Hannah Montgomery
Attorney
Hannah Montgomery joined the Center for Nonprofit Law in September 2025 after relocating to Eugene from Washington, D.C. Her practice focuses on counseling nonprofit organizations on tax exemption, employment, governance, and intellectual property matters, as well as guiding philanthropically minded clients through the process of forming new organizations. She is particularly committed to helping mission-driven groups navigate today’s challenging legal and political landscape for nonprofits.
Before joining the firm, Hannah worked as a Program Officer with the American Bar Association’s Rule of Law Initiative, where she managed multi-country projects to strengthen judicial systems, advance human rights, and support civil society across Eastern Europe and Central Asia. She previously practiced as an associate attorney at Klamp & Associates, advising a diverse portfolio of domestic and international nonprofits on compliance, risk management, and governance issues.
Hannah earned her J.D., cum laude, from American University Washington College of Law, where she also completed a master’s degree in international studies as part of a dual-degree program. During law school, she gained extensive practical experience through clinics and internships, including representing tenants in D.C. landlord–tenant court, conducting research for the United Nations Committee Against Torture in Geneva Switzerland, and clerking with the U.S. Department of Labor. She is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and is pending admission to the Oregon Bar.
Originally from Dayton, Ohio, Hannah is excited to put down roots in Eugene, where she looks forward to building both her professional and personal community. Outside of her legal work, she enjoys creating stained glass and pottery, traveling, hiking, camping, and horseback riding. She shares her home with her partner, Kris, and three cats—Bo, Butters, and Weezer.
